About
Wild Things is a proudly Australian, surfer-owned brand based in Byron Bay, NSW.
The company was born in a derelict warehouse in the backstreets of Sydney in 2012. The business grew quickly — what started as a shaping bay and small showroom for Gato Herói soon became an incredibly diverse business with are a huge range of activities going on under the one roof. Wild Things was uprooted In 2017 when the old warehouse in Manly Vale was knocked down. We moved up to Budjalung country (Byron Bay) and couldn't be happier to be surrounded by great waves and an incredible community.
So what do we do??
First and foremost Wild Things is a surf hardware brand. The Wild Things fin team features some of Australia's best and most creative free-surfers, including Creed McTaggart, Chippa Wilson, Dion Agius and Jaleesa Vincent. The close-knit team have been trading fins and testing new ideas for a few years now, with some really innovative and exciting templates coming out of the process. Wild Things has a wealth of experience in the industry, with a huge offering of alternative surf fins including signature ranges from Kai Ellice-Flint and the Fitzys. There are single fins, twins, twinzers, thrusters, 2+1s and quads in all colours of the rainbow.
Secondly, we are a shop, with a focus on alternative surf hardware. Our showroom and webstore offers a variety of alternative surfboards with 40-60 boards in stock at any time, as well as wetsuits, clothing, accessories and a huge range of fins.
Thirdly and just as importantly, Wild Things is a distribution business looking after core surf retailers. We are the trusted Australian distributor of Gato Herói, CREME, Octopus and True Ames.
On top of all that, the Byron Bay workspace of Wild Things and Gato Heroi Oz also provides space for hire, shared studios for designers and artists to work from, and provides a venue to showcase the art, photography, design and music of friends and new friends.
Wild Things is currently featuring artwork by Otis Carey, Ozzie Wright, Steve Cooney and Paul McNeil on the walls. Some bands that have played warehouse parties at wild things include Tomorrows Tulips, Ocean Alley, The Growlers, Skeggs, The Babe Rainbow, Goons of Doom, Mylee and The Milkshakes, The Dandelion, The Ruminaters and Allah Las.
